SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail security system, which is is intended to validate if an e-mail message is sent by a certified server. Using SPF protection for a given domain name will stop the counterfeiting of email addresses generated with the domain. In simple words: activating this attribute for a domain creates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers that are allowed to send email messages from mail boxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Every time an email message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through checks whether it originates from an accredited server. If it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, however when it doesn't originate from a server part of the SPF record for the particular domain, it's discarded. In this way nobody will mask an email address and make it look as if you are e-mailing spam. This technique is also known as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for each domain name hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a few mouse-clicks. The option is available in the Emails section of our innovative Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to enable it is to choose one of your domain names from a drop-down menu and then enter the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be approved to send emails from your emails. As an added option you can even restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only when it has our MX records, i.e. if our servers handle the emails for it, not a third-party provider. This feature provides you with the best level of security, but it's not applicable if only your site is on our servers while your email addresses for the domain name are handled in another place. Either way, our SPF protection service will keep your emails secure from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case your email addresses are taken care of by our company and not by some third-party supplier, you'll also be able to benefit from an option for e-mail messages to be sent only when the domain has our MX records and the aforementioned is the most secure option.
